Choosing the Right Name for Your Dog
Why are you naming your dog? Whether you just got a new full grown dog
or you are looking at puppies it will all come down to what you will
choose for a name. And while some people agonize for days on this others
will automatically know what to call it. But for those that are unsure,
here are some tips and tricks to help you out.

What Image Does Your Dog Portray?
When you name your dog it will tell a lot about not only your dog but as
well as who you are. And whether people have a positive or negative
reaction towards the name will all depend on the both of you as a whole.
For instance, if you are a funny kind of person that is always nice to
everyone and you have cute dogs with one that is called ¨Killer¨, more
than likely those that know you will react positively with a few laughs
as to how silly the name is. So make sure to choose something that will
tell a lot about who you are as well as what kind of dog you have.
Also, when looking at dog names you will want to take into consideration
what image you want your dog to portray. In other words, it makes a big
difference if you dog is simply a pet or a rescue dog, guard dog, etc...
Popularity
For some when it comes to cute dog names they will go with the most
popular out there. However, for this you will not only want to consider
what is popular in your area but what is popular in your country as
well. For instance, while Darby and Pandy will be popular in one part of
the country you will find that such names as Maxwell or Lady will be
popular in others. So if you want to go with what is popular be sure to
do your research.
Ease of Use for Both You and the Dog
While many people will make a huge fuss about having a prestigious name
to go along with their prestigious canines they tend to forget that it
should be a name that is easy to call up and easy for the dog to
understand.
You will find that the easiest names for your dog to recognize will be
those with no more than two syllables. Furthermore, when choosing these
names make sure they do not sound too closely like important commands
like no, stay, come, or down.

Look for the obvious
How does your puppy behave? What type of colouring does your dog have?
If you are stuck on a name then try and look at things like behavior,
personality, looks, and disposition. For instance, when you hear of
names like Spot, Bandit, or even Bear, what types of things come to your
mind about the dog that it belongs to?
Naming a Purebred
Most often you will find that naming a dog that is a purebred is much
harder than naming your mixed breed family pet. This is never more
important than when you are naming your dog that you plan on competing
with, or one that has a long family line. Depending on where you are it
is important to note what the traditions are on naming. Furthermore, you
also may find that you are not always allowed to name your dog the same
as someone else's so originality can be important. So if you own a
purebred and want cute dog names remember that it will depend on what
you plan on doing with your dog.
