Mutts vs Purebreds
When you see an ad for cute dogs for sale do you tend to have a look
see? You will find that most all of us have a weak spot for these pets
even if we have never owned one before. But what often comes to question
for those pet lovers is which would be better, having a mutt or
purchasing a purebred.

Mutts will always be a surprise
When you hear the word mutt what people are talking about are mixed
breed animals. Rather than have two of the same breed have puppies it is
two different breeds making babies. What most people love about these
types of dogs is the unpredictability of how they will look. However,
when it comes to trying to figure out how big they will get or what they
will look like as an adult it can be hard as in most cases you may not
know which breeds the mother and father were, and therefore cannot
predict such things.
Purebreds are predictable
Purebreds are those dogs that are of the same breed. What´s more, in
most cases you will find that the parents were selectively chosen in
order for the offspring to look and act a certain way. Not only do
people prefer the prestige of owning a purebred dog but also the
predictability of knowing what it will look like and how it will most
likely act. However, one of the down sides to these dogs is when it is
over-bred. This happens when there is not a large enough selection of
mates to choose from and certain medical issues will follow down that
line of dog. For example, from over-breeding you will find that some
dogs end up with hip problems or even heart problems.
Cost analysis
Mutts
If money is a concern to you then you may want to look towards the mixed
breeds for your companion. Most often if you are unable to find one in
your neighborhood then you can go to any animal shelter. You will find
that although there are some costs to getting your pet from the animal
shelter it is far less expensive than going for a purebred dog.
Furthermore, since the majority of mutts have decent health you will not
have to worry about any long term issues due to their breeding. For
instance, you will find that insurance rates for mutts are a lot less
because of their mixed breeding.
 Purebreds
If you have the money to spend on simply the best for your dogs then you
may be all set with affording to purchase a purebred. Although the costs
can be extreme depending on the breed the results can also be well worth
the investment, especially if you plan on selling the offspring.
Behavior
How your future pet will act is always a concern to people but for some
it is more so. You will find that while a purebred dog is often
predictable it may not always be the behavior you are looking for. For
example, many times people find that a purebred dog can be very
excitable and hard to train from a puppy. On the other hand, often times
you will find that mixed breeds are dogs that are far more relaxed and
easy to train. In the end it will all come down to what type of behavior
you are looking for. For instance, if you need a dog that can help herd
your animals then you may want to find a mixed breed or purebred dog
with the qualities of a herding canine.
